Tempo contributed with sitting benches for “We Dare to Care Park” in Bonaire. We Dare To Care was built for the main purpose of addressing and finding solutions to some of the social problems affecting Bonaire’s children together with their families. We believe that the balance of economic prosperity and advanced social development of Bonaire’s future lies in the hands of our Children. This fragile and vital development starts from infancy to young adulthood. There is no other public facility that offers or meets the needs and is open to all the people of Bonaire, like the “We Dare To Care Park”. It is not only for selected groups or paying members like most other organizations/facilities are, but for all members of our community from every age group. The Park caters for all ages and needs – from the elderly down to the mothers & fathers together with their children as well as the disabled members of our society. The elderly and adults can especially enjoy the large and spacious Garden with benches and rock garden, the kissing bridge and jogging path. For the teenagers there is Skate Park and the roller blade path. The disabled enjoy the swings. The washroom is handicap friendly and the wheelchair ramp allows access the multipurpose building where functions and children parties are held. The children from 18 months – 16 years have full access to the playground equipment. The unborn child – the jogging path and walking path where the expectant mother can stroll and exercise her mind and body helping the unborn child. The community has embraced this Park for the last 6 1/2 years. We have seen that our insight and innovative thinking for this park become a reality. This is evident in the attendance which has grown from 70 to over 100 kids daily. The usage is from all sectors including governmental and non-governmental organizations. Our motto and concept when we founded this foundation was and still remains today : ”Keep our kids off the streets” and indeed to keep them from negative activities by giving them an alternative. The general public, being parents, taking their kids for a recreational outing and even for tourists with kids has always been our goal. The park is one of the only public places that is free from entrance fees. We envisioned the above-mentioned result and usage and we are extremely proud of the response and results. The government also had the foresight at the time and gave us the land. The private sector is cooperating by paying for the utilities and the garden.
